We submitted nearly 40 submissions this week. What do you think about that? Is that level too much, or is it acceptable? If you do not watch the group's submissions, what level would you find appropriate? Do you want more exposure for your work?
My major concern at this point is whether anyone is really looking at the submissions being submitted to the group's gallery. If submissions are simply being logged in the gallery and no one is looking at them, that's a waste of both the original artist's time submitting work as well as my time processing submissions each week.
I have two options
running around in my head:
1. Clip the submissions to a constant across the group's gallery each week. That means that each user would be limited to submitting 2 deviations and the group as whole would only select a constant number of submissions each week
to be featured - like 30 submissions, leaving out a few that may not be the most noteworthy in terms of quality. This would ideally ensure a standard quality of artwork (I would be filtering for works that do not appear complete [drawings with white backgrounds], do not appear to have required much effort [like snap shots] or are already listed in a large number of groups and already have been publicized).
2. Follow #GimmeFeedback
's lead and use a comment-submission trade-off
. That means you need to comment on some of the group's submissions before you will be permitted to submit artwork to the group. I am [link]
(working on an app) to automate this process so it will be easy to simply look up how many comments you have made and how many submissions you have made to see if you are eligible to submit. This app is mostly for the admins though to check to make submission levels are adequate - the user doesn't need to do much more than comment on the group's submissions. I believe this would be the most effective way to increase the publicity of the art pieces in our gallery since it requires users to visit several submissions to leave comments.
Anyway, your feedback
on this matter is much appreciated
and will determine the future of this group
